Let’s say there is a person that I know in school. Like I know their name but they don’t know who I am. Maybe they’ve seen me before but really they don’t know me or have never spoke to me. Should I start with a simple “hello” or ask if they are (insert name)? If I want to get to know them and become friends with them but don’t know any interests of theirs to speak upon, what do I say?

  1. What makes you want to get to know this person in particular? I think context is important because that person will probably be wondering why you approached them.

  2. What I learned was that it’s better to act like you don’t know something about a person if they didn’t tell you, otherwise you come across as creepy.
