Borrowing my friend’s account here with her permission.

21 years old, just got driver’s license; live in Manchester, NH, intending to do a road trip from here in NH that’s interstate, where’s best to go, with great food and drink and good music venues?

We’re likely to stop off in motels on the way.

  1. If you wanna stay in NH I love the white mountains area. Funny thing, one particular stretch the interstate actually is only one lane wide!

What kinds of things do you like to do? How far are you willing to drive?

  2. Depends if you prefer cities or nature.

For cities, 95 is probably your best bet (but it’s certainly not a pretty/pleasant drive).

For nature, I’d probably either drive over through the Green Mountains and Adirondacks — or head up into Quebec (in which case you could also probably hit Burlington/Montreal/Quebec City if you wanted to).

I also used to drive from Brooklyn to Detroit by taking a detour through Toronto. That was always a fun drive that I bet would be even more fun starting in NH.

  3. How far do you want to go? How many days?

A road trip can take you to Nashville, New Orleans, or to Spokane.

    Some details are needed.

  4. Down to DC through NYC and Boston if you want cities.

How long are planning on taking?

You will have shit tons of music venues and food on that trip.

  5. I-95, go as far south as you want.

Stop by Asbury Park in NJ for a great music scene & great food. It’s a little out of the way but 100% worth it.

Take I-95 South to the garden state parkway

  6. Well me an my friends departed from Merrimack in 2012 with our eyes on San Francisco

It depends on your available time

Cross-country is a classic, someone recommended the east coast down 95 which is a good option, you could run down the Appalachians and hit Nashville,

It all depends on his much time you have

  7. Definetly 95 South.

I would take 101 straight to 95 and then you can stop by Portsmouth, Boston, Providence, New Haven, Stamford, NYC, Philly, and D.C..

All super fun cities w good food, drink, and music venues.

I went to college in New Haven and I would highly recommend Toad’s Place. It’s a bit gross, but it’s always packed every weekend w people your age due to the high concentration of universities in the area and a lot of artists will always perform at Toad’s right before they take off i.e. Post Malone.

The other nice thing is that on 95 south from Portsmouth to D.C. you can split up the trip into shorter increments instead of just driving for hours at a time since all of the stops on that list are around 1-2 hours apart max.

  8. If you’re renting a car, make sure you’re eligible. Some don’t rent to anyone under 26.

  9. A trip east through new York could be wonderful if you like outdoor activities! You could plan a trip out to buffalo and back, hitting sites in the Catskills, Adirondacks, and finger lakes region. And of course Niagara Falls near buffalo. Watkins glen is a must! Seneca lake is loaded with wineries that offer excellent eats/drinks/entertainment

  10. I was just gonna say…if you can cross the border head North young’un! The province of Quebec is huge and beautiful and full of fun to be had.
