33F and everytime i use a dildo i get a terrible UTI. I know they can push bacteria into the urethra. I am in bed now with Urocystil (bearberry) and drinking lots of water.

Is there a way to stop this from happening? And is there a better way to heal myself? I also like Gyno-Dactarin which feels like a very cool yoghurt inside me and gives instant relief. I just can’t keep going on like this.

My dildo is fairly large because I like the feeling of suction on my vaginal walls (tmi it feels like jerking myself off from the inside, like pulling a sleeve). I am probably being way too rough on myself but the orgasms are so good, help?

  1. Use condoms. Bacteria might be in water, you bedsheets etc. So ita not easy to trace it. It is also possible that you are not allowing yourself to be healed properly. So no dildo action till you are properly healed!

  2. Is your toy [body safe](https://dangerouslilly.com/toxictoys/)? Surprisingly few dildos are actually made of non porous materials. If you didn’t pay a chunk of change for it, it’s likely a shitty toxic material that has a surface that’s too rough to clean out all the bacteria.

  3. What material is your dildo made out of? There are plenty of sex toys that are made from materials that are not body-safe and can harbor bacteria even after cleaning. Some body-safe materials include 100% silicone (not silicone blends!), stainless steel, glass and some ceramic and wooden toys.

Are you using lube? Many lubes are not ideal for for the vagina because they either contain glycerin or propylene glycol, which both increase the risk for fungal and bacterial infections. There are few water-based lubes that don’t contain these ingredients, like Sliquid H2O and Good Clean Love.

  4. Thanks all! Realised my toy is a clear hard jelly. Not too cheap, but still porous. May have used it anally in the past and may not have gotten all bacteria off! I should def use condoms but i think I react to those as well. My solution i guess is to get a different type of toy and exclusively use it for my vagina. Someone suggested there might be bacteria on my sheets which of course in Summertime and with toying is a no brainer i suppose. So i will change my sheets even more often.

  5. Make sure you wash the dildo before and after use ypu can probably find body safe cleaners at a sex shop or on abam and eve or something

  6. Everyone has offered great advice.

One other thing to mention is post-coital antibiotics. My wife was getting horrible UTIs after almost every sexual encounter. We methodically tried to narrow it down to condoms, lube, toys, fingers, oral, etc, etc and could not.

After more research we stumbled upon post-coital antibiotics. Consulted doctor and they prescribed immediately with enthusiastic thumbs up on our research.

They work great and zero UTIs so far after using. Might be worth looking into.

Our understanding and research has led to them working very differently than normal antibiotics and so you do not have to worry about building up a tolerance to them as often worried about with others.

    YMMV

  7. You should always pee after sex and I suppose the same thing applies to using a dildo. You’re still pushing bacteria into the area.

  8. Probably not body safe or needs better cleaning. I had the same problem and I had to get an actual toy cleaner. Realized my daughter was having the same problem when she was getting utis. Also some materials don’t agree with some people.

  9. To take care of ur uti id suggest taking cranberry supplement and see a doctor. They can be dangerous if you get them often because it can go to ur kidneys

  10. Are you properly cleaning your toys? Swiss Navy has a wonderful toy and body cleaner and I’ve never had a bad reaction. Also Uqora. It’s a pink lemonade drink mix meant for flushing your system after sex and helps prevent UTIs.

  11. Keep it clean. Try using a water-based lube; Walmart has some over by the condom section. Adam & Eve, KY, etc.

  12. Sounds like you’ve already gotten the source identified, but I just wanted to say D-mannose is AWESOME for preventing and treating UTIs. It’s natural and safe to take preventatively. After my first couple UTIs I did a TON of research and I’m so glad I found this. Peeing after penetration basically prevented UTIs for me, but every once in a while I have some riskier penetration with something that’s been around my butthole (I lack willpower when horny) so I take a dose just in case. No idea if it helps, but knock on wood no UTIs in like a decade.
