My boyfriend of three years (who I lived with) decided last month to accept a job opportunity working on the other side of the world for a year. Our relationship was going really well until this point.

I support him in his goals so was happy for him although I do not want to be in a long distance relationship at all.

When he first said he was going I was very upset, but now he’s been gone for a month I barely find myself missing him. The house is lonelier and I have less to fill my time but it’s not so much him. He messages me every day saying he misses me but I can’t help but wonder why he chose to leave then.

Is this normal for an LDR or a sign it’s the beginning of the end?

TL;DR – bf moved to the other side of the world and I’m not missing him. Concerning?

  1. You could be not missing him because you know he’s coming back so you feel safe. Or you could just be over him. I certainly couldn’t do long distance.

I think you answered your own question.

You said “I don’t miss him.”

That pretty much says it all.

I’m sure the relationship is over.

  3. Maybe your feelings are changing because of how much he hurt you when he accepted the offer. He was fine being apart for a year.. and that’s probably just as bad as not missing him now that he’s gone.

It might be time to think really deeply about why you don’t actually miss him.
