Hey people from Reddit, I’m a college student a male (19), I don’t know how to approach people, and socialize, I know how to socialize with older people, but it’s hard to do it with younger people, I mean +18, I feel goosebumps, what can I do?

  1. Hey, I’m also a college student too (19F) and recently I’ve had the same issue with getting close to people my age and creating bonds, but I’m completely fine speaking with my professors. I would say something generic like take it one step at a time. But I already know how much phrases like that really help. I started with one person in my class that was extremely outgoing. Making small talk and asking more questions about them based on what they said really helped me grow a bit closer. Don’t be excessive just let them talk and let it flow. Show a bit of interest and try to relate and find common ground if you can. I’ve made friends with people I never really expected to befriend that way. And if you’re talking about kids or teens I can’t help you. Kids are hell spawn. Also join a small club if you want. I also thought about how with some of my classmates I explained that I’m a bit anxious and shy so please be patient with me, so they knew I wasn’t standoffish just socially inept.
