Ostfalia Hochschule Wolfenbüttel.
Good practical type of “College”, great Social Work faculty. Wanted to move to the same city as some close friends, so while they studied at the local TU, I went to Ostfalia and we were able to share a flat, around 400 km away from our former home.
I chose the one in my city because I’m too lazy to move to another city and I wanted to live close to my family.
Newnham College, Cambridge.
I chose the university because they had the unusual course I specifically wanted to do, but I didn’t actually choose the college – I initially applied to Pembroke, but they had too many applicants, so I was pooled to Newnham instead. Best accidental not-decision I ever made.
Close by to my home
College of the Ozarks (well, that’s one, I’ve graduated from 3).
It’s a work-study college that allows you to pay for your tuition by working on campus and graduate debt free. I attended there after a community college that I had enough scholarships to pay for, and then I attended Missouri State University because they had the program I wanted, and had graduate assistantships which allowed me to graduate with my master’s degree without debt as well.

The uni in Nuremberg (Germany). Two reasons. For one I wanted to stay in the state because I still had obligations at home that required me to go there at least twice a month and I wanted to live in a big city so that only left two options. The other one is Munich, but that’s way too expensive and there’s more annoying people. And then also the degree itself. I wanted something with a lot of flexibility and a lot of classes offered and I got that there.
Wanted a reason to leave home and it’s one of the best on the continent. Win-win.
A state school where I used to live. It was the least expensive choice.
I chose a college in state but different city. I wanted to see a new place and new faces but also be under a 4 hour drive from home. What I looked for in a college was it being in a big city with lots to do, diversity amongst students, active clubs, had my major.

One that doesn’t exist anymore. I chose it because I originally thought I wanted to be a teacher and they had a good elementary education program back then.
