Why is there so much anti-Irish racism in American movies ?

  1. I have only ever seen it in movies set during their Immigration period. There has been racism toward virtually every immigration group to the US during their primary immigration period.

If you are seeing it in other movies you will need to point it out.

  2. Well, there was a lot of anti-Irish and ati-Catholic feeling in the United States in the 19th century during the big wave of Irish immigration. Are these movies set in the 19th Century?

  3. … which movies?

Historically, there was a lot of discrimination against the Irish and Italians in the US. But that’s not a thing now.

Other than the inability for us to pronounce some Irish names, I can’t think of anything that’s remotely against the Irish in the US.

  4. It used to be a thing in the 1800s when large numbers of Irish immigrants were coming over during the famine.

It’s been a long time since that was the case.

  5. I mean if it’s a historical movie then they’re probably just trying to portray the times?

Why is there so much imperialism in European movies?

  6. Which movies? If it’s a period piece, that’s how America treated the Irish at the time. I cannot think of any other movies that would showcase anti-Irish sentiment.
