Myself (25f), my partner (27m) and our child (3m) currently live in a city apartment. Due to the cost of living crisis and some rent increases, we can no longer afford this and have decided to move.

We have no ties and are open to anywhere in the country. We’d like somewhere with nice schools, activities and somewhere our money will go a little further.

Where could we go, any recommendations?

  1. Come to stoke , it’s cheap. Bought a 3 bed semi last year for 115 k , next to a nature reserve , down the road from a school rated excellent . Had to spend about 13k renovating it but me and the fam have got our forever home

  2. Not sure where you’re based OP, but your Mahoney for sure would go further North of the country.

I live in a small village in Leeds and love it. I’m from Croydon, London originally, and haven’t regret my decision to move at all.

  3. I’ve been hearing very good things about Newcastle / the North East.

Currently in Manchester (from London), but thinking about both NE and SW at the mo.

  4. Go to the Republic or Ireland. It is nice there. Stay there for five years and you can get a passport and citizenship. If you can afford it, check it out.

  5. Cheshire has some excellent schools, as does the Wirral, although they are a bit out of the way/rural. Good place to raise a family imo.

  6. Anywhere in the North East, obviously the closer you live to Durham and Newcastle the more expensive (compared to the rest of the region) but there are some lovely places up here and some amazing countryside.
