Just wondering what national companies or just jobs that are available everywhere you’ve worked for in the past or present who are good to work for. Senior management at my current job treat us like shit so I’d be interested to hear what ones you have a good experience with. I am looking for around £25k or more (which is what I’m on now). I am literally open to anything and money isn’t the most important thing but obviously it helps

  1. Ocado, you work hard, but they treat you fair.
DPD, but only on the linehaul side (the artics you see on the motorway).
Gist, especially on the Starbucks contract.
Sainsburys, but again only on the artic work (depot to store( and it depends on the depot)).

And a lot of smaller companies. I find the smaller companies better than the large ones.

  2. TUI, They do everything behind the scenes right. Never saw anyone cut any corners. Everyone I came across works hard and they genuinely do care about the customers… and beating the competitors. Benefits were good, Cheap holidays, Holiday vouchers for different lengths of service. Occasional competitions for staff.

  3. I had a job that came with some good perks. Plus my job wasn’t that stressful. I know other people in the company had fixed shifts which were tough and theyd have to work weekends and bank holidays and some had to work outdoors all through the heat and the rain and dark… And then I was made redundant …

It was a graduate role. Didn’t pay a huge amount, under £30k. But it was enough for me to save up and buy a house with my partner.

I know people who worked for Waitrose/John Lewis and they said they liked it. But unless you wanted to work in head office or become a store manager, there wasn’t much chance for progression.

  4. TFL/ London Underground. Depending on what part of the company you work for, the hours might be rubbish but the pay is generally good and the perks are great. Free travel, great pension, cheap private healthcare scheme, discounts and once your working for TFL, it’s a lot easier to get other jobs within the company, like tube driver (my job). There was a job going for the British transport museum which had salary at Around 30k, it won’t be unreasonable hours and you don’t work bank holidays/ Sundays. I also believe the job posting is still live on TFL website and closes at midnight tonight.

  5. I worked at Hawksmoor restaurants. The owners are amazing, you’re treated very well, they invest in their employees and promote from within. And they pay considerably more than you’re earning as well, I believe.

  6. Timpson.

They employ people who had done prison time.

They trust their colleagues to make the right decisions. Each employee has £500 budget to just make p4oblems go away like a customer complaint, without the need to consult their boss.

    Free use of holiday homes.

Financial incentives for giving up smoking.

    Etc.
