The porn I watch tends to be a lot less kinky than the kind of sex I have. Also, despite being bi, I don’t watch gay porn or even particularly enjoy cock focused hetero porn
Oh man, I hope this thread takes off. Really interesting subject and relates directly to a majority of the content on this sub.
I feel like for me porn has awakened some kinks that were already lurking in there (dominance, butt stuff), but I also watch porn that holds no interest to me in reality. It’s just porn. I don’t want to do it in reality any more than I want to do a bank heist or be killed by Michael Myers. It’s a show.
BUT it’s worth noting, I am middle-aged. My sexuality formed when I was jerking off to late night HBO and JCPenney inserts in the Sunday newspaper. Younger people have had internet porn at their fingertips since the moment they were interested in sex, if not before. Their sexuality formed watching gangbangs and throatfucking. Obviously that informed their sexual development, so I have to think the porn/kink relationship is a lot tighter for many of them. The fascination in this sub with “rough sex,” particularly choking, which comes up more than once every DAY, would seem to bear that out.
Funnily enough, choking in particular seems to be fading off somewhat in porn, and has been disabled as a search term in basically every mainstream porn site (I assume for liability reasons, as it is pretty high-risk). I can see it in ten years being seen as something that middle-aged people are into, that younger people don’t get or care about at all.
