Anyone out there who is Korean willing to give me advice regarding cultural aspects of being in a relationship with a Korean?

I’m Canadian (white, female, age 37) and I was with a Korean person (female, age 39) for 9 years (in Canada). We were committed (I thought) and we built a life together. But our relationship ended somewhat unexpectedly and poorly and I’m having trouble making sense of it.

I didn’t ever give our cultural differences much weight, and my ex didn’t seem to be very aware of aspects that were unique to Korean culture. Now I have many questions regarding our relationship and it’s demise, and how much of our issues and my ex’s behaviour was due to cultural differences that I wasn’t aware of.

Anyone willing to give input?

Was in a long term relationship with a Korean. Relationship ended poorly and abruptly. Wondering in any Koreans here are willing to give advice on cultural aspects that may have come into play in our relationship/it’s demise that I was unaware of.

  1. Sorry but you should have asked your girlfriend at the time. A Korean person might share some Korean relationship stereotypes but they can’t speak for your girlfriend.
