Hi, I’m (40m), in the process of reeducating myself. I have a lot of installation experience in the past and I currently have a focused study in IT, since being laid off/fired early in the pandemic. I also was homeschooling for that duration as well. While there have been a lot of learning experiences throughout this, the amount of social interaction is limited. College has been virtual for more than a year and a half, and one of the reasons I started was to make new connections. So, in a nutshell, a majority of my study time is staring at a screen with no interaction with my peers. I search high and low to find a place within a virtual world to make new friends or reestablish friendships but feel there is little success being made sometimes. How does a person turn something like this around after being so acclimated to social isolation for an extended period of time? Any recommendations where to focus these efforts?
