My (f23) school has this weird trend going on where people post their social media accounts for others to follow so we can make friends. Well one guy (m unknown age, sorry) and I exchanged account and we haven’t spoken much.

Tonight though, he posted on his story a link to ask him questions (not anonymously) and so I asked him to share a selfie since he doesn’t have any pictures of him. He sent a few of himself privately to me.

I laughed because he looks different in everyone. He kept asking why that is and I couldn’t explain it over text as it was too long. Then he said “well let me take you out to dinner sometime. haha.”

Is he asking me on a date? If so, how do I politely decline as I am not attracted to him?

UPDATE: He just added “and a movie”

“sometime” is of course, not a ‘date’

  2. Yes… he was asking you out in a more informal way using the term “sometime” rather than a specific day/time to first gauge your interest.

If you respond negatively or don’t respond, no big deal, at least he tried. If you respond positively, then that’s his que to suggest a day and time and location.

  3. Find a way to say “no” definitively and pick your own method of delivery. No isn’t always pleasant to hear but it’s a valid response for anything.
