Sometimes I feel like most people in my dance classes/groups don’t want to really talk to me or interact with me at all. It feels like they’d rather talk to someone, anyone else. I really want to ask a friend there for help on this, since I feel like they could help, but I don’t know how, and I’m afraid to. How can I ask for help here?

  1. There are a few things you can check on.

    1) What does your resting face look like? Bored? Angry? Indifferent? Fearful? If so, replace your resting face with a “hint of a smile,” that makes you more approachable.

    2) What is your Social Energy Level? Are you reserved? Standoffish? Fearful? If so, up your level of WARMTH. Sweep in there with a big smile and a big hello. Use people’s names and ask how they’re doing.

    3) How are your conversations? Are they dry? Dull? Monotone? Going off on tangents? If so, make the pivot to FUN! Ask about them, with ENTHUSIASM. Tell something about your day, what you noticed, what you’re interested in, with a bit of PASSION. Notice what’s around you, be a little SILLY.

Life is short. Bring The Fun.

    Good luck!
