I’ve been messaging with a guy for a couple weeks. He’s had to go back to his home country for a family thing so we haven’t been able to meet each other in person. He has said he’s interested to do that when he gets back.
But he also messaged “regardless of what happens it’s always nice to see a friendly face”
So what am I meant to think now? Is this a friend zone indication? Is he taking the possibility of a romance off the table? Or just “we’ll see how the vibe is in person”?
If so, why still message for so long? An ego boost? Loneliness?

It’s called leaving your options open.
He’s gone for the time being, you are well within your right to still consider meeting other people.
A couple of weeks is nothing.
You haven’t even met, what you say in messenger does not amount to anything.
You could tell someone you love them and want to spend the rest of your lives together… But if you’ve never even met…
