1. Don’t meet at Starbucks. Find a local coffee shop to show bare minimum effort. This isn’t a business meeting!

   1. Always offer to pay for the coffee and snack. Don’t care what gender you are. Always offer to pay your own and theirs just to be polite. You’ll be able to quickly weed out anyone who has gendered expectations of who’s paying (red flag to me and I am a woman).

   2. Don’t ever expect that you will be paid for. It sets a potential relationship on the wrong foot.

   3. Avoid religion and politics as topics.

   3. Don’t be creepy. If you’re going to give a compliment, make sure it’s a compliment you would be ok giving your grandmother.
