I think laughing would be the socially acceptable thing to do but it feels so fake.

  1. I wouldnt laugh if I didn’t find it funny. I always ask why it’s funny then to make things extra awkward

  2. You could try to just smile at the others’ reactions. Think “nice that they enjoyed that”. It’s a good middle ground between not being fake and not being the odd one out

  3. I mean, my friends’ happiness usually makes me happy, so even if it’s not the funniest joke, I still usually end up at least smiling

  4. Nope. It might be an autistic thing but I really struggle to do that, especially if it’s a stupid, offensive joke. Obviously sometimes I can’t even tell if they’re joking or not, lol

  5. If I like the person and think they’re worth supporting then yeah I’ll help smooth-over a joke that didn’t land. If they’re an asshole or otherwise need some negative feedback I’ll let the joke fall flat.

  6. I usually just smile, because most of the time it’s enjoyable to see people laughing. If it’s offensive I won’t smile or laugh because I don’t want them thinking I agree with their mentality, then I try to leave lol
