Fall is here. Which means winter is nearby. Which also means it’s boot season. What’s your go-to boot? Do you prefer a formal boot, a casual every day boot, a workhorse boot, a hunting boot? What’s your thing?

  1. Day-to-day I wear either Blundstones or Dr. Martens, depending on what I’m feeling.

I have steel-toes for some work related stuff where I need that type of PPE. I don’t like wearing them when not necessary as they are pretty heavy.

I have snow boots and hiking boots for activities that call for those.

  2. Steel toed work boot. I like that I can just pull them on, no lace tying, and I like that I can go just about anywhere with them without worrying about my feet getting hurt. The boot might get dinged up some, but, it’s a work boot, so…

I wear them all fall and winter

  3. Every day wear, I usually wear Clark’s desert boots. Nice and stylish, fit with really any season. Would love something dressier maybe, but these do just fine.

Outdoors stuff, I got a pair of steel toed Timberland’s when I used to work at a brewery, and they held up wonderfully (had them for two years now).

  4. The Stampede Square-toe by Justin Boots for work/dressing down. Mine are dusty and beat to hell by a decade’s construction work, so they’ve got a great “worn” patina on them.

Chelsea or lace-up boots by Cuadra or John Varvatos if dressing up.

  5. I love the classic Iron Ranger. I was going to spring for a pair, but then the pandemic hit and I’ve been remote ever since, so there’s nobody to style on.

  6. My daily wear are just some basic black Justin ropers. I have some off-brand black steel toed work boots I wear when I actually need protection but they’re not particularly nice or anything.

That said I do not live somewhere that “winter boots” are a relevant concept so neither are well insulated or anything. I just got used to boots when I was young and never stopped wearing them regularly.

  7. The longest lasting boots I have are my Ariet cowboy boots.

My favorite boots are my Belleville combat boots. I keep them spit shined.

The relevant term of art for military surplus clothing is “Berry Compliant”. This means American made with American components.
