Where I live only a couple grocery stores sell Ben&Jerry’s and it’s really expensive, it’s twice the price of a nestle ice cream, and three times the price of a national brand. I’ve always wanted to try it tho, I always see it in tv and films, tho I’ve heard it’s quite sweet which I don’t like. But anyway, is it worth it? Should I try it? If so, what flavor do you recommend?

Also, I’m not from the US ✌️

  1. My opinion is that it isn’t worth the price, but it is way better than nestle or some other brand. I justify the price by telling myself ice cream is a treat. I really don’t need more than a pint, every now and then.

  2. It’s good, but cmon, it’s not that expensive, live a little and try something you’re curious about!

  3. It’s ice cream. It comes in lots of flavors. It’s not the crappy kind full of ice crystals.

Do with that what you will.

  4. It’s worth having at least once; I don’t know a single person who’s tried it and didn’t at least like it. Some flavors are very sweet, so I’d opt for more neutral ones like Chunky Monkey or Americone Dream given your preference.

My personal favorite flavor is Phish Food, but it is very sweet, so probably not what you’re looking for.

  5. It’s quite good and you might as well try it once if you are curious. Is it worth TWICE what you pay for other brands? Prolly not but like….c’mon as an occasional thing it’s a very affordable vice.

  6. It’s a higher quality product and they can charge more than the competition. For stuff you can get at your standard grocer, it’s pretty good

Most groceries will have them on sale somewhat regularly

  7. Phish Food is my favorite ice cream and it’s Ben and Jerry’s. No one else here carries something with soft marshmallow and caramel like that.

  8. Yeah it is good. It is true full cream ice cream.

Other cheaper varieties have some filler and thickeners and basically mix in milk fat and skim milk instead of straight up cream and maybe some skim milk and egg.

You should try it. Phish Food, Americone Dream, and Cherry Garcia are the best options.

You will notice the difference in quality.

  9. It’s very good ice cream. Whether it’s worth the price is very much a matter of opinion. I’ll buy it on sale sometimes, when it’s two or three times the price of the good ice creams.

Buy a pint, invite some friends over. and have an ice cream tasting party to make your own judgements. My favorites are Cherry Garcia and Chunky Monkey, with Everything But The… in third place. It’s fun sometimes to just try a random flavor.

  10. It’s better than Nestle but I don’t buy ice cream that much. If you want to try it, I would try Phish Food or Brownie Batter Core first.

  11. Where do you live? It’s on sale a lot and it’s frozen so I’ll pick up a few when they are like 2 for 5 bucks.

It’s one of the best decently priced supermarket brands.

I doubt it’s sweeter than other ice creams?

  12. It’s solid ice cream, but the main appeal is all the mixed-in ingredients (cookie dough, brownies, pretzels, swirls of fudge or caramel, etc). I love that, so it’s my go-to brand, but for straight-up high-quality ice cream itself you can usually find better.

  13. > it’s really expensive

    It’s like, $5-6 for a pint.

    > I’ve heard it’s quite sweet which I don’t like.

It’s *ice cream*, with lots of added things like fudge, cookie dough, marshmallows, and other sweet things.

I like Chubby Hubby for those salty pretzels and the peanut butter fudginess.

  14. I very rarely buy it because it only comes in pints and I prefer simpler flavors.

It’s fine though. I mean it’s ice cream.

  15. The ice cream itself is good quality. My issue is that it’s a sundae in a pint. If you like candy fudge and bullshit making up 35% of the contents then it will be right up your alley. If you want a pure ice cream or Gelato experience there are far better options within the same price bracket.

  16. Every time I get another brand of ice cream it disappoints me. Ben and Jerry’s costs a lot, but there’s more ice cream in it. It isn’t half air. And it’s better quality than anything else at my grocery store. I get big tubs of cheaper ice cream for parties and stuff, but B&J for myself.

  17. It’s fine ice cream, but I don’t think it’s worth the price. In then end I try to not support unilever so that’s the main reason I don’t buy it.

  18. My local Walmart sells a pint for $4, my local regional chain has it for almost $10. It is worth the former, not the later. It’s good but it’s not that different from other ice cream just some unique flavors.

  19. It’s easily better than any other store bought brand.

I don’t really get the reasoning of cheaping out on an occasional luxury item that you will be buying specifically because it grants you pleasure.

Cheap toothpaste? Sure, it all cleans your teeth. The screw cap is more annoying then the flip cap — no big deal. As long as you floss daily and brush regularly you get the same benefit as the slightly more satisfying expensive toothpaste.

Live life man. Get the Ben & Jerry’s. It’s not just cause it has chunks if goodies in it. The cream itself is legitimately better (especially compared to Nestle).
