I do care about this guy (31, M) however he has this kind of immature feel about him sometimes. Tonight we were talking about his cousins, and he was reading a text from them that he didn’t reply to for a week or more. I asked him, are you not that close to them? Because I didn’t know which cousins he’s close to and which he isn’t. I said the text sounded really formal and that obviously with the time it took for him to get back to them, it seemed kind of distant.
He got extremely defensive and upset and on a loop told me that he just is so busy and doesn’t have the time to see them and that he needs to make more time. It sounded really immature, it wasn’t an off the cuff thing of oh, I really got to make some time for my cousins and plan something for next month. It was very hysterical in my opinion and really worked up like almost offended that I even suggested they aren’t close.

Sounds like he felt called out and panicked.
I’ll never understand why people don’t indiscriminately respond to messages promptly. I even provide prompt responses to people I don’t like or respect that much. If it’s quick and easy to do, it’s quick and easy to forget to do.
