How has reading erotica affected and shaped your sexuality in positive/negative ways?

  1. I’ve read a lot of erotica and it helped me figure out my sexuality and learn how to communicate what I like with a partner. But sometimes I read things about how porn is bad for our brains, and I worry that reading erotica might be similarly bad for me.

  2. Hugely positive, as an alternative to mainstream porn getting more, ah, intense and violent and obviously misogynsitic in no way that is kink or hot.

If you are into something like facials and degrading statements afterward, even the worst written erotica can at least give some insight into why two humans who respect each other would be doing this together and that the person on the receiving end has also actually been gratified and is not just saying “thanks I deserved it” like a zombie.

I could go on and on honestly. About vanilla stuff too. Basically it’s humanizing and still hot but that can depend or your mind/imagination. I actually have aphantasia (hard time thinking in images) but I still find written porn hot because I’m happy with my brain the way it does process these things for reasons that are hard to explain. But most people with aphantasia probably need video, understandably.
