By “in reverse” I mean you did life stuff at a young age that people usually do when they are old, or you did things when you were old that people more commonly do when they are young.

  1. I was often told (Frequently by other women, but by men too) that I should appreciate being a teenager because you can eat whatever you want and stay thin and by age 30 or 40 even if you eat nothing you will be fat because “metabolism slows down”. Lots of women also told me that you will be fat after having kids. Not just a few extra baby pounds and expected body changes (stretch marks, wider hips, etc) but like it is completely expected to be 50+lbs heavier after having a baby than before kids.

But for me, I ate whatever I wanted when I was in my teens and early 20s and I was 30-40lbs overweight. I was very active — worked out a lot, did long backcountry hikes and camping, but I was also overweight.

I am slimmer now at age 40 and 2 months postpartum than I was at age 17. I still eat “whatever I want” it’s just that what I want is way less junk food and way more home-cooked food.

  2. I lost my mother when i was 19 and she was 47.

Normally that happens when you are way older.

  3. I’m in my mid twenties and I’ve spent the last 7 years working my ass off, so I really hope this is what ends up happening haha

  4. I had a fake ID & went to bars as a teen (80’s) to see live music. Every weekend & several times a week. Once I made it to my 20’s & was legal, I didn’t go as often. Now it’s maybe once a month.

  5. I had a baby at 20 and didn’t get to do any of the fun stuff or be independent. He moved out at 20 and I’m living my best life, indulging myself and my interests, having fun and planning my future.

  6. So my husband and I joke we did everything in reverse. We had a child very soon into our relationship, moved in together afterwards and got married six years later. I was in and out of college for most of my 20’s and just recently finished in my early 30’s. I will be going back to get a different degree at 34.

There is no timeline! I wouldn’t suggest some of these choices to everyone but my life worked out for me and I absolutely loved being a young mom and love my husband.
