so my friends and i have a trip planned in a couple of months. we’ve decided on going by car because that’s cheaper than flying. I have to sit in the car with her for hours and have no idea how to tell her i want to take my own car. I can’t think of any excuse and i don’t want to be an asshole and tell her the truth. my other friend has agreed to go in my car because of this issue. i feel terrible but i have absolutely no idea what excuse to give.

Just grab a couple air fresheners, either under the seat and/or for the vents. If you don’t carpool it’s not going to be cheaper than flying. Even grab a can of febreeze. But as a friend you really should tell them they have BO or whatever, it’s what friends do, tell each other the truth.
