Several times it’s happened that someone’s tried to arrange a group meet-up for the weekend or similar, and nobody has replied or said they’re interested.

Obviously it’s a bit difficult to find out why not, but the most common thing that comes out is “I wanted to know there was a group going before I committed.”

In other words, they waited for someone else to say yes first, so they knew they’d have a posse. But since everyone used that strategy, no-one said yes first, and so no-one said yes at all.

Is there any way around this?

  1. Just ask would anybody be willing to go but won’t confirm they will
