So hanging out, a term everyone is familiar with but what does it mean? Right now I am on my sofa, my husband is on his chair and the dog is lying on her bed. Is this hanging out? Or do you have to go somewhere and meet up with other people in order for it to be hanging out?

  1. What you are describing is more like “just chillin”

Hanging out usually involve two people doing something or going somewhere

  2. it can be used to mean spending time with another person or any other kind of chillin. usually describes a relaxed situation either way.

“she and I hung out yesterday”

“I’m just hanging out at home tonight”

  3. Hanging out can mean paritcipating in any activity with someone else. It typically means, “hey, let’s get together and do something. We don’t know what this thing is. It could be watching a movie or going out somewhere. We won’t know until we’re doing the thing.”

  4. Yep, you’re hanging out! I hang out with my infant son at the house all the time. If’s my favorite hang.

  5. You can hang out at home

You can hang out in Rome

You can hang out in a chair

You can hang out with a bear

You can hang out in the park

You can hang out in the dark

You can always hang out by yourself,

But it’s fun to hang out with someone else

  6. To me, hanging out is at least sharing the same space, doesn’t have to be the same activity.

Is he in the same room?
