I need some trainers that have very good foot support and are also wide fitting and don’t know where to look.

Which specific shoe or brand would you recommend? What did you find helpful and what was your problem?

  1. In general i noticed that during summer walking barefoot make my feet look healthier. also good diet. SO I started to walk in Birkenstock in summer if weather allows and then I invested in more expensive shoes by Salomon or Sketchers. Really good shoes!

Also I use antiperspirant on my feet so they will not smell. And I am not speaking about any of the branded “foot deodorant”. I am talking a normal roll on I would use on my pits, I have a one of different fragrance I use on my feet. As it includes moisturiser there is added benefit of 1. Easy removal of dead skin with pumice stone at the end of the day during shower. 2. Feet stay soft.

  2. I have wide feet.

I use Nike all day for general use. and rebook nano x2 for the gym.

Reebok nano x2 seem to be the at the top of every list of best gym shoes and I can see why. very comfortableand good support.

might also be worth going into a specialist running shop as they can do a gait analysis and see which shoes are best for you.

  3. New Balance runs wide and they have wide sizes. You might get a custom insole that fits your feet. That solved a problem for me 20 years ago. Plantar fasciitis. I suffered for 6 months, but when I got the insole it went away in a few weeks.

  4. I was in the shoe business for almost 10 years through high school, college and law school. New Balance, especially the higher end Made in the USA models, are absolutely the best for foot pain and the best for using aftermarket insoles or orthotics. I wear them when I am going to be doing a lot of walking.

You do have to sacrifice style a little, or at least there are less styles that I like the look of. Check out the New Balance 990 or 993, those are my favorite.

  5. New Balance for the win. Other brands caused pinched nerves in my feet and push one of my toe joints out of alignment – to the point the bunionesque lump split the seams on my Merrill’s.

It all corrected when I went to New Balance. Plus they go great with cargo shorts and white socks.

  6. Barefoot is the best thing, but walking on concrete and asphalt is defeating the reason for waking barefoot, except for the temperature regulation.

Shoes should be made from real natural leather without any synthetic shit and a good orthopaedic footbed also lined with leather.

Everything else are compromises in quality of life.

  7. Flat foot. I don’t know the brand of shoes but one with high level of support. I usually do leg and cardio workouts that put less pressure on the foot than running/jogging,

  8. in short. my ankles are shagged due to hypermobility and the fact i live in heavy boots.

the way ive found to deal with that is just to keep wearing high boots whenever i have to stand for a long time or walk a lot, like when im working. at wich point boots are required anyhow. and wear no shoes whenever i can to slowly retrain the muscles holding my ankles taught (wich should be done by tendons. but im hypermobile so those are too long)

i cant really wear trainers at all. they hurt like hell after a while. i used to have corrective padding but those made the problem worse because my feet kept slipping on the part that was supposed to hold my arch in shape.
