My wife and me are still in high spirits and incredibly happy to move there. We’re pushing it to 30 (27 and 29), both work in the gaming industry and have a plethora of interests, from board games, Warhammer, raves (rarely now), to hiking and just sight seeing (we also like ancient stuff). Can’t also believe I’ll have people to play Warcry with, besides my wife, haha.

**Upd**. You all are lovely.

**Upd** Wife saying that’s a lot of spoilers for our exploration. I say, keep ’em coming.

  1. Horsham is a decent area, nice high street and good link to central London. I was considering buying there when I first looked for a property – good luck.

  2. A cool county loads to do I would check out things like the Downland museum or fishbourne palace there’s a few Victorian towns about like Worthing or bognor Regis on the coast a few iron age hill forts if your into walking (cissbury ring) bramber castle if you want to see a very ruined castle but the village has a lovely pub Shoreham is a nice little town and your not far from the delight’s of Brighton with the royal pavilion

  3. Horsham is nice, I live nearby. Villages in and around the Sussex Downs are what makes Sussex best though.

  4. You’re near to lots of good walking spots along the South Downs. Arundel is a very quaint place. It has a castle and big church/cathedral which can both be seen from the main road and railway. There’s also a wetland centre and nice pubs in and around Arundel.

Brighton is an interesting city you can easily get too.

If you’re into history then you can take day trips to Portsmouth and Southampton, both of which have museums.

  5. Midhurst, Goodworth,Petersfield, Chichester all nice. Bognor Regis was always the land time forgot, nice coast. Generally nice part of the country.

  6. It sounds like you will be working for CA – and if you don’t you’ll no doubt meet a lot of people who work there – they all wear their company hoodies in town.

Crawley cinema is pretty good, and you can change at Three Bridges to get to Brighton.

The motto on Horsham’s sign is ‘Time well spent’, which you can add a couple of commas to.

  7. Do you drive? There is much of historical and alternative interest to experience within a 1-2 hour car journey. Burley in the new forest, the rollright stones, fossils along the Jurassic coast, pretty much all of Devon and Cornwall if you’re up for traveling further.

  8. I relocated from Seattle to Kent about 3 years ago and while I haven’t explored much of the island (thanks covid), I can share a few insights.
Brighton will probably be your cultural bright spot for diverse/inclusive communities. Folkestone and Hythe are nice too.
If you make it up to Kent, Canterbury is another great spot to visit and has a decent nightlife.
If you’re into spooky stuff, Crawley which is nearby has a bunch of Halloween events at Tulley Farms. Also, there are loads of haunted tours in places like Pluckley: “the most haunted village in Britain.” πŸ™„
For music, download the RA app (resident advisor), it’s the very best way to find events by region and/or your favorite producers. You’ll likely need to head to Brighton or Ramsgate to get dance music. Often it’s easier to just go to London.
Finally, get used to absurdly long journeys to go short distances. It still blows my mind that a 10 mile journey can take close to an hour by car.

  9. You have lots of options for hiking around the South Downs, you also have Brighton nearby. You are fairly close to Arundel.

For housing, compared to the outskirts of London, all of Horsham is nice, but the area to avoid is the centre of Roffey. Horsham station gives you the best options for commuting with trains to London Bridge/Blackfriars or London Victoria. There is a station at Littlehaven with trains to London Bridge/Blackfriars every half hour or so. These trains go through to Peterborough.

  10. Knepp Estate is right near Horsham, it’s a huge rewilding project with areas open to the public. South downs has hikes and nice country parks, like Ditchling Common.
Rye harbour is a rare Saltmarsh reserve!
Brighton is a great bustling city with good nightlife (check out concorde 2 and patterns) and a huge range of pubs and restaurants! There is also a board game bar on London road, always looks busy when i walk past and is open until 10pm!

Good luck with the move and hope you like it there 😁

  11. Oh christ what have you done you fool.
They’ll be waiting with a barrel of hot tar and a bale of feathers.

  12. Stay on the south side of Horsham and it will be local to town . There is a huge gaming developer in town called Creative Assembly. It’s pretty easy going and it has weekly markets on Saturday that brings in some good food stalls.
