So, I was arguing with someone the other day and it was about something I get emotional, anxious and depressed kinda every time it’s mentioned.

While I know that I have to work it out with my sensitivity over that thing, I literally can not reply to the other person when they try to get an answer from me or to hear me my comment about it.

Like literally my mouth wont move and everything I want to say stays in my mind.

I genuinely think that what I am about to say is worthless, wont make sense for the other person but makes sense to me, and would sound silly once the words come out of my mouth.

What should I do?

  1. Don’t argue.

If someone chooses to behave in a way that makes you feel too stressed to answer, walk away. Ideally, let them know that you won’t engage that kind of aggressive behaviour and that you’ll gladly respond to calm and rational discussion when you both calm down. But your safety is paramount and you do what you need to do to feel safe.

90% of the time, the aggressor is seeking something from you and are trying to coerce it from you by being aggressive. Shutting the aggression down means you can’t be taken advantage of.
