My partner’s Japanese student gifted me a cake and a card on my birthday. Should I get her something in return or no?

She’s an adult student and my partner teaches her English. I was surprised that she got me gift for my birthday. I’m wondering if I should get her something in return or just leave it since she’s a student/customer.
