Whenever I (F) see a person with a cute or nice outfit, hair anything I compliment them, my friends know that and even join in with me, the people I compliment are always flattered and thank me and I go on my way. The issue is I was talking to my mom about this girl (a stranger) who I found her style and hair soo good then mom went off on me all of a sudden and told me I should stop doing that, complimenting strangers and that it’s rude, so is it rude to do so? I really don’t know

  1. Your own personal experience tells you that it is NOT rude, it welcomed.

On the other hand, what your mom said to you about it is rude.

  2. It’s not rude at all. In fact, you have no idea how much something as small as a compliment can mean to a complete stranger. A girl told me she loved my dress in a Hobby Lobby about 5 years ago and I still think about it fondly to this day.

  3. If a stranger compliments me, I ride that wave of self confidence for the rest of the week
