Women and men of Reddit I need advice. I’m (43F) six weeks into a new relationship and I’m starting to fall in love with her (46F).

I get a feeling she has started to develop feelings for me too, but I’m several months out of a 22 year marriage, so reading the signals is hard for me still. I was prepared to date around for a while, and then she came along on date number 5.

When we can we spend a lot of time together (she is week on/off with her teen daughter). We can talk until a bar/restaurant closes, the intimacy is great, we connect in multiple ways, and she is going out of her way to maintain the physical and digital connections (as am I). We spend whole days, nights and weekends together when we can, and everything seems to be heading in the right direction.

She is 4 years out of an abusive marriage she walked away from, and has spent much of this working on herself, and has been in a couple of unsuccessful (short and longer) relationships prior to me coming along. So she might just be trying to protect herself by not signalling? Maybe she isn’t at the same point as I am yet? But how do I know if I don’t tell her?

All the emotional and physical signs of falling in love are there for me. How should I tell her how I feel? Should I tell her? Am I being an idiot for falling for her “so quickly”?

TLDR: I’m falling in love again with an amazing woman, and I’m confused.

  1. Its only been 6 weeks. Totally possible that its the real deal but you are just out of your marriage.

Keep going how you are going but i think give it another 6 weeks and see how you feel.

  2. You’re M or F?

Merely separated, or, has the Divorce decree been finalized?

    > I’m several months out of a 22 year marriage,

Much, much too soon imo. Conventional wisdom suggests a month’s break for each year of relationship/marriage, so, some 25 months or so? Else, whoever you’re with tends to be merely a short-lived rebound relationship.
