I (20 M) and my ex gf (20F) broke up about a month ago mainly because of a stupid fight we had in which it escalated and thats that. Yesterday I found out she was cheating on me before the fight we had, I told the guy to be careful around her because she cheated on me with him, he obviously didn’t know my ex had a boyfriend so I don’t blame him, but then i confronted my ex because I was fuming, the 2 whole years I treated her like a queen and made sure she felt loved, but she still cheated. I confronted her telling her that she used me, she ain’t shit, blah after that I stopped because I didn’t want anything with her anymore, later her family told me they would sue me because of defamation on social media which I didn’t do I just told the guy and confronted her. I don’t know if they are really gonna sue me or not but she has all the points to lose.

It’s only defamation of character if you lied.
Libel and slander have a lot of requirements to meet. First and foremost being it has to be untrue. And you have to have known or suspected it was untrue. And they have to prove it caused actual damages.
They have no leg to stand on.
Most likely baseless but take no unnecessary chances. Cease all contact with her and any of her family. Block the numbers and all social media accounts. And just move on with your life.
Defamation is only for untrue statements that you know are knowingly untrue (here in the US). Good luck with that. Even if they could what would they sue you for? You are 20 years old so unless you are super rich no lawyer would even take there case.

If they keep making a fuss, tell them that suing for defamation includes discovery. That means that you and your lawyer would get to go through her communications and see anything that had to do with you, and the infidelity. And if stuff gets deleted? That can be considered obstruction of justice, and result in prison
They have absolutely no legs to stand on.
Let them. Hearsay and arguments do not constitute proof.
Calling someone a ho is not defamation! Could be an insult though.
Don’t worry youre right, they can’t sue for what you did.
