Edit: I mean, in my country we have some jokes that are too old or childish to tell. So I was interesting if you guys have the same jokes(I though the knock knock jokes are kinda cringe)

  1. We have a sense of humor, so yes.

Its ok to not take life too seriously.

    Edit:

    >(I though the knock knock jokes are kinda cringe)

They are a bit. They’re jokes for kids. Nothing wrong with that. George Carlin wouldn’t be their speed.

  2. kids like them, I don’t really hear a ton of adults telling knock knock jokes to each other though.

  3. Shakespeare, himself, invented them.

I mean it is very cool to me that they have survived for 400 years and crossed an ocean, presumably because of parents telling them to their kids.

  4. My young elementary school child LOVES knock knock jokes to the point I had to do something to get her off them. Now she’s running around asking everyone “how do you scare a bee?” and my wife is expecting a phone call from the school this week….

  5. They’re entry level jokes so kids can start to figure out humor, but I’m not too proud to laugh at a good knock knock joke.

  6. A good joke is a good joke. It’s not the process that matters, it’s the content. Interrupting cow is a great knock-knock joke. Orange is not.

  7. Learning patterns, particularly in language, is an important part of child development and small children like trying out new skills (such as toddlers walking aimlessly just because they can, which might also be why some children bolt for no reason). Breaking a pattern can likewise be a fun surprise for slightly older children. As such, formulaic and family-friendly jokes like knock-knock are a huge part of any childhood, as are structured lap games like Boston to Lynn.

  8. My 5 year old niece loves telling the orange knock knock joke. My three year old nephew loves telling it as well, but usually misses the punch line. It’s hilarious.

  9. Those are what we call Dad jokes. And as a Dad, they’re a significant portion of my comedy repertoire.

They really hit great with the preschool crowd.

  10. If an adult tells one, it’s usually either filthy or it’s being told in the spirit of innocent silliness.
