I live at a hostel and meet new people every day. But one thing I noticed more and more is that women act more suspecious/avoiding towards me while we haven’t spoke a word yet.

Yes, I know many women have really bad experience with men but I wonder why they act more open and friendly to non POC people or only other women.

I’m POC btw. But I’ve seen other POC women who are ignoring me completely and only giving the white men their attention.

  1. People tend to be more comfortable with familiarity. If someone has more experience with a demographic, they are more likely to be comfortable with that demographic.

It’s unfortunate but seems to be just how it is.

  2. **TLDR:** Because humans are shit.

**Long version:** Unfortunately, we live in an unequal world. Not many generations ago, people of color were enslaved. And when slavery was abolished, most governments didn’t give a damn about social inclusion plans, so many of them had nothing and nowhere to go, ultimately resorting to crime. It seems like a long time ago, but when you stop to think, it isn’t. The consequences of this can still be seen today: people of color being associated with crime. But it’s not on them, it’s on society. That’s what racists fail to notice.
