Essentially I want to stop buying anything close to fast fashion. I generally only wear plain t shirts and jeans, and a jumper (or probably two this winter).

I want some decent plain t shirts which won’t shrink or get weird after washing, heavy cotton if possible so that they last a good amount of time.

M&S was my go to this year but their clothes aren’t standing the test of time either!

  1. If you want high quality it won’t be cheap, if you want cheap it won’t be high quality.

  2. I manage on Fruit of the Loom Heavy T-shirts (only the heavy ones last well) and cheap supermarket jeans, which last very well.

  3. Sounds like you wear what i do. I have 2 pairs of hardy jeans(get them on ASOS, if they’re not cheap, ASOS do offer to split payment over 3 payments, so it doesn’t feel so expensive)

Jumpers/hoodies/sweaters, i just get whatever i find. currently in a good quality nike jumper i got at a charity, i had a band hoodie i got at a concert that lasted me a few years before that.

T-shirts, you want heavy duty ones, i buy these: [https://amzn.eu/d/hLWRrNB](https://amzn.eu/d/hLWRrNB)
Heavy duty, fruit of the loom shirts. I wear them for work and in my time off, they last well and are good quality. £16 for 5 is good.

Shoes, outdoor shops like Blacks or discount shops like Deichman are great, lots of offers on too.

  4. Sadly most if not all high street brands have questionable ethics. There’s a lot of greenwashing that goes on too, particularly from H&M (one of the worst offenders).

With clothing the best thing you can do is buy once rather than buy cheap. Cheap clothing is a false economy anyway. It’s worth spending a bit more on a good quality, ethical brand that will last you forever and won’t exploit workers. Style dependent but Patagonia do great things for the world.

  5. probably the best blank t shirts i’ve gotten is from [https://shakawear.com/](https://shakawear.com/)

more specifically if you’re into the cut/style of t-shirts [these](https://shakawear.com/products/garment-dye-drop-shoulder?variant=39486481924159) are perfect for a good over-sized look. only bad thing is the cost for shipping, but if you are buying quite a few tee’s from there it works out all right.

for jeans a good pair is either going to cost a lot or be thrifted. Thrifted Levis for cheap and long lasting. things like dickies work pants are something that is more of a unique look that will last a long long time and are relatively affordable being about 20-30 quid from amazon.

  6. I have a bunch of jeans, t-shirts and a hoodie I bought in Taiwan about five years ago. But that’s no help to you.

  7. Try Russell Athletic Classic Heavyweight ‘215M’ or something they are called.

Good thick 215gsm fabric which is about as heavy as a T shirt gets before becoming more of a sweatshirt. You have to buy them off random wholesale or workwear websites, but should work out about £6-7 each or something.

I’ve been over heavyweight T shirts a lot and these are definitely one of the best.

  8. E-bay. My girlfriend buys loads of clothes second hand on eBay for cheap and high quality

  9. mandmdirect for branded items and uniqlo for non-branded, is a bit more expensive but lasts great
