Had a good connection, daily communication for months, great chemistry on date, held hands and kissed, spent 8 hours together just talking. He was initiating the intimacy like long hugs, holding hands and initiated the kiss. Female returned the interest and was warm and friendly toward him.
He then said a week later, this isn’t going to work and made the comment about waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Never heard someone use that line in a dating context.
Not going to ask him because we’re no contact and i moved on but am curious what you think that means in this context

Why female returned? I usually means he was expecting you to dump him at any moment.
