Ever since I’ve lost my virginity at 15 I’ve had pain during sex. I lost my virginity to SA and the majority of the times thereafter were also SA. The one time I had sex with my bf who I was comfortable with , it didn’t hurt it felt good.

My bf and I haven’t done anything in 6 months and we did it today as he just got off college break and it hurt.

Is it normal for it to hurt/be painful?

  1. It’s not normal to hurt and be painful. It might be *common,* especially among survivors of SA, but it’s not normal, in the sense that you shouldn’t just shrug it off or ignore it.

Beyond that, all I can say is that you’d likely benefit from proper medical advice. Counselling to address the SA, for example.

  2. Did you rush or skip foreplay? After not seeing someone for so long I can see how you might get overly excited and skip the part of sex where you warm up the vagina. If you skip it, that can definitely lead to pain.
