My wife(25f) and I(24m), want to try pegging, as I brought it up as a potential kink I might enjoy. We bought a starter kit from A&E and have been too nervous to try it. We’re both fairly okay with trying new things but we’ve been putting off trying it for lack of knowledge and just a general bit of nervousness.

What are some things we can do to reassure ourselves, make it feel good and make it fun and exciting and far less scary?

  1. Talk. Be aware of how the both of you are feeling. Recognize that this is first an experiment. You’re not shooting a porno, you’re just getting the feel for something. So put it on. Have a laugh at how silly it looks… or notice how sexy it looks! Find a comfy position. Go slow. Use some lube. If you find you didn’t use enough, use more. Go slow. Talk. Remember, the anus is a muscle. If you’re relaxed, it will be too. If you’re tense/nervous/worried, it will be too…. and it might hurt.

A note about hygiene. Wash yourself. Make sure you smell nice. Eat lots of fiber (generally good advice!). But past that… there are no foolproof ways to ensure that this is 100% poo-free. It’s an ass. There’s always some potential for poo. If it happens, it happens. Only a big deal if you make it one. Clean up and move on. As far as the toy goes… condoms are really nice for anything butt-related.

    Happy playtime!

  2. you need to start on your own, start small, and work up to it. don’t rush, if anything feels bad just try again another time

  3. If this is something you’re interested in go check out r/straightpegging and look for Ruby Ryder’s web site and podcast. Ruby is a sex educator and the sort of patron saint of pegging. She hosts online classes for couples to learn about it and is active on the straight pegging subreddit.

In particular for beginners look at Ryder’s website, [Pegging Paradise](https://peggingparadise.com/) and look for the ‘New to Pegging’ drop down menu. Her podcasts are a good resource too if you want to soothe your nerves and build some comfort about it together.
