Hi all, I have a coworker that is constantly being facetious, always telling not funny “dad jokes”, making small jabs and giving endless trivia random facts at every chance to make himself feel relevant and well educated. Some of his jabs and jokes are even offensive, which I have politely confronted him about. He is also quite unproductive at work, but somehow the company has kept him for several years but that’s another topic. I am exhausted every time I interact with him, to the point that I actively avoid him at work, which is hard since we work in the same group. Things can be more difficult when we go on business trips together. Every dinner we go to I’m just about to pull my hair out the entire time. But he is not unique, I have met several other people with similar demeanor at social gatherings. I am always flustered by them and not sure what to say, but I’m afraid that if I don’t say anything I may come across as rude or humorless. Any advice?
