End of the honeymoon period, or pressure to take a next big step (such as moving in together) makes him realise he doesn’t want that with her. It can be sudden. It’s not really a gendered thing, women often go through something similar.
It’s awful when it happens for both parties.
For me it’s behavior and lifestyle choices. After seeing things for long enough to know that it won’t work. Promises made, promises broken, nothing will ever change.
