Stuck between “don’t invite yourself” and “how will they know you want to go”

Has anyone found the key to this? My friend is in town and went with a group of our friends to the mall, a bakery, and now dinner at all my favorite spots, but he didn’t invite me.

I know I could’ve asked what he was doing today and he would’ve felt obligated to invite me, but I don’t want to invite myself. I don’t want to give off the vibes that I’m not interested in spending time with him but I also don’t want to invite myself.

I just feel sad that I spent my day alone because I can’t decipher if he wanted to spend time with me and it was on me to ask him what he’s doing, or if he didn’t want to invite me and it was on purpose that he didn’t.
