I 21m am potentially going to be hooking up with a person 26nb that has herpes. They are very open about it and it isn’t a problem but I am looking for best practices for not getting it if I go down on them. Most information I could find on avoiding herpes was for penetrative sex or for giving head to someone with a penis, which they don’t have so any advice would be really helpful thank y’all!

It may be an unpopular opinion, but it’s not worth the risk. Yes most people have it, but if you don’t, why risk it?
