So earlier today I was approaching a coworker to ask them a question about work stuff. I am kind of bad with eye contact, in that I’ll hold it while talking with someone but try to avoid engaging it when approaching. However, when I approached this person he was just staring me down while drinking whatever drink he had and looking directly in my eyes. I kept putting my head down and looking away initially as it made me uncomfortable. I didn’t know what to do. Is that normal? What does it mean when someone stares at you with such an intense gaze? It felt like his eyes pierced right into my soul

  1. Two questions.
Did you perceive this person to be confident?
Do you perceive yourself to be confident?

People do this either as a test to see “what you’re made of” – or they’re weird and creep people out. It’s also possible that his stare was somewhat normal and you just got very intimidated by their presence.
Either way, if he was doing this to get information, he got it very quickly.
