I’m 28 years of age, from Europe (Croatia), and I just had Doritos for the first time ever. Somewhat underwhelming..

Am I doing it wrong?

I got BBQ, Nacho, and Taco flavours (It was all they had pretty much, was hoping to try Cool Ranch), and I just ate them like any other snack, on their own. Was I supposed to eat them with some kind of sauce/dip? BBQ and Taco ones were actually pretty okay, but Nacho was pretty bland.

  1. Cooler Ranch are by far the best ones. Anyone who tells you differently is wrong and should feel bad.

    The rest are very meh.

  2. I think most people love them because they’ve been eating them since they were kids, not because they are some super superior snack food.

  3. No. You did it right. Doritos are underwhelming.

My favorite flavor back in the day was 3D Jalapeño Cheddar but they are long gone.

  4. Are you eating them in the US or in Europe (I haven’t seen BBQ flavor here in the US so I’m just extra curious too). I could get Doritos in Spain occasionally but they were not like the ones in the US at all.

  5. They’re not amazing… They’re just chips. Junk food.

Personally I find the original nacho and cool ranch flavors underwhelming

Spicy Sweet chili and Spicy Nacho is where it’s at. Flaming Hot Cool Ranch is an oxymoron but it’s also surprisingly good if you like hot/spicy things.

  6. Gotta find that Cool Ranch (or “Cool American,” as it’s labeled in some countries), that’s the flavor that matters.

Taco is the OG Doritos. I too find the Nacho cheese very meh. It’s not bad, not good.

  7. They’re not that great. They’re mostly nostalgia from when you were a teen. So no, you’re doing nothing wrong.

  8. It’s a snack chip. We’re you expecting to see the face of god or a spontaneous orgasm?

  9. As an American, I have to say Doritos are very far down my snack list. They’re nothing special to me, either. Not what I would miss if I were away from home.

  10. I wonder if the ones from Europe are lower in sodium than the US ones.

210mg of sodium per 28g of chips in the US.
