  1. Not really, theres a few artists i like but yeah.

Idk i just dont like the sound, 90’s and early 2000’s rap on top

  2. In general, yes. But it’s usually passive listening, like for working out or driving

I actually prefer mumble rap over the MC rock the mic stuff from the 80s

  3. I don’t really listen to the genre as a whole when compared to back in the early 2000’s, but some artists, like Kendrick, I will still listen to.

  4. No because I was born before the moon landing and grew up with Rock (now called “oldies” music by my college+ aged kids but, whatever) and eventually settled on progressive rock. Give me a good Rush tune any day.

  5. Yes. There are lots of talented and creative rappers and producers out there. But if it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, that’s totally fine.

  6. No. From what I’ve heard from cars or neighbors, it just sounds like angry, disgusting lyrics combines with mediocre beats.

  7. Not anymore then I like rap from the 90s. Most genres have some catchy songs, amusing songs or something that just has a good beat but have never really rated rap music that highly.

  8. Some of it… I started listening to rap when I was a young teen, listening to DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince era rap (mid-80s). I liked that it was about life where these guys grew up. In a way it told a story, much like country music did. Once it became garbage I quit listening. I hear rap songs today that are pretty good… but still don’t listen to it much any more..

  9. I don’t like most rap due to the lyrics not being relatable/enjoyable to me or not being able to understand them.

  10. Nope. Can barely understand what they’re saying/mumbling. Too much cursing. Doesn’t feel original, all of it sounds/feels the same. I’d rather drive 6 hours in silence than listen to rap.

  11. I like modern rappers like Kendrick a lot, but I tend to listen to more 90s and 2000s rap.

  12. Not like mainstream modern rap but I do like some modern rap. Depends on who the rapper is.

  13. No, it has moved too far from its roots and lost the funky-ish soul it once had, like most music does when big money gets involved and it is harder to be creative.

Rap went downhill late 1990 – early 2000.

  14. I don’t think anybody does. But then again, I’m not familiar with them. I just go by what people that know more about that than me are saying. But it isn’t far fetched.

  15. Never liked any of it, right from the start. I prefer stuff with melodies and lyrics that I find meaningful or entertaining.

  16. There’s tons of awesome rap today. In the last couple years, we’ve had awesome albums from Kendrick Lamar, Vince Staples, Conway the Machine, Freddie Gibbs, JID, Lupe Fiasco, Denzel Curry, Danny Brown, Run the Jewels, Flo Milli, noname, and plenty more.

I think modern rap is more diverse and versatile. You definitely have to dig a little harder through the pile of soundcloud rappers, but it’s super rewarding to find a great new rapper.

  17. Yes, I think people are blinded by nostalgia and don’t appreciate the storytelling and musicianship of artists like Kendrick, J. Cole and Vince Staples. A lot of it is on par with anything from Biggie, Nas or 2pac.

People also lump “modern rap” all together, they hear generic trap garbage like Lil Yachty, Uzi Vert, Migos, Juice Wrld, Kodak Black, and assume anything made after 2010 is like that, but it’s not that hard to differentiate the true storytellers.

  18. I’m not really into hip-hop or rap much (good to fuck to though), so my opinion probably means squat, but today’s rap just seems so.. lazy. Back in the 90’s rap was much more.. energetic and fun. Today they just get some generic beat that might as well be from a Casio keyboard and mumble over it.

  19. Yup. Mainly underground artists and people that are still making rap that have been active since the 90s. But there is plenty of good modern rap. Just most of it isn’t what is popular. Favorite popular modern rapper is Benny the Butcher.

But this goes for all genres of music I listen to, not just rap. The shit that is popular with the masses is usually water down versions of the underground. So the underground is usually what’s putting out the good shit.

  20. No. Those lyrics are straight degeneracy.

I prefer jazz or orchestral music typically.

  21. Not at all, it’s just so different than the typical stuff I listen to. I just know that I can’t vibe with most of it. It’s not really what I’m looking for with the music I listen to.

  22. No. … because its horrible. Its really fake, and really absurd, and fully of self-aggrandizing nonsense. Its almost as bad as slam poetry.

  23. Long as it has a beat I can vibe with. Don’t really care about the lyrical content.

  24. I don’t like it, I can’t understand what your saying and your lyrics are not realatible and don’t make sence.

I only like old rap anything before 1999(and some song from the 2000s) and I also like artists like Kendrick Lamar, logic, Joyer Lucas, j Cole etc.
