Okay so I’m a shy teenage girl and I really need help in making friends outside of school. I have a good amount of school friends and people I’m friendly with but I talk with virtually none of them outside of school. I sometimes feel I consider them closer than they consider me which is understandable but still upsetting. I’d like to make closer friends, preferably outside of school where everyone already has a friend group.
How do you make friends outside of school? Where should I go? I don’t do any sports and I’m in a few clubs but I’ve had no luck there.

  1. The closest I’ve come to making new good friends is by learning a new sport(Badminton). There is something in playing together that bonds people.

I know it’s hard to get out of one’s comfort zone but it’s worth a shot, not only will the interactions increase but your confidence also shoots up when you’re improving.

  2. I don’t have close friends, mainly just acquaintances. I’m a Senior in HS but I haven’t found my people yet, and that’s okay.

Sports are definitely a positive. I used to have terrible social anxiety and it made life much harder (though also being an Introvert can be a challenge at times). I joined the Track & Field time last year and it not only made me much better Athletically, but improved my social skills. I’m Introverted but much more talkative now.

Clubs are also positive; you could try volunteering (I’m in the Red Cross), or meet others you share a common interest with (like TV, Video Game, etc.)
