What do you do when your friend makes a lot of back-handed comments about your significant other?

1. If they’re a good friend and I value their opinion I ask them if they they dislike him for some reason that I don’t see and what the problem is.

   If it’s just casual girl friends I might hang out with I ignore it.

2. Normally, I’d ask them if there’s any reason they dislike my SO. If I don’t agree with their reason, I’ll tell them as much and ask them to stop because its inappropriate and I won’t stand for needless criticism of them. If theres some truth to the criticism or something that I hadn’t thought of which may potentially be true, I’d ask them why they didn’t just tell me directly instead of making backhanded comments which are ultimately not helpful for anyone.
