So today i was sitting in class. I’m the “quiet kid”, not the jerk type, quite the contrary i always try and be as kind as possible when i can, but still this is my third year in the school and i don’t really have friends, just people i chat to. So from this you can tell my social skills are shit. Since COVID died down this year we brought back shared desks and my neighbor is really talkative and funny, she’s always cracking jokes and trying to talk with me and i do my best to converse normally and also joke with her. My hearing really sucks though so when she told me something today i chuckled automatically and didn’t say anything. The two guys behind us though heard her and said “He’s totally ignoring you” and i didn’t think about it until it hit me. She asked me something, i laughed and didn’t answer and totally ignored her. I felt like crap, i still do! It feels dumb apologising for it now or tomorrow but i need some advice on how to avoid this stuff and since it’s my first time here some general social advice would be appreciated

  1. I think a quick apology would be a good idea. “Sorry about yesterday, I just didn’t hear you.” Quick and easy. You will feel better, and She’s probably self conscious too.

If you are going to chicken out, just write it in a note for her.
