Sometimes I can do this sometimes I can’t. Many times it has to do with other personal stressors, season, and work load. Sometimes I can shut work of like a light switch when I’m home, other times work keeps me up at night for weeks and months on end. Medication helps, so does therapy. I always tell myself I should always be going and taking meds but when I’m feeling better for a 6 months I always dip.
It can become impossible to switch off. 60-70hr/week job over years you internalize and it is hard to not be working even while at the beach with your family.
I bought a motorcycle. Riding my bike it’s just me with total concentration on the road, what’s around me and the freedom I feel. Not for everyone but for me it’s the best release from stress I’ve ever had.
Does anyone have any advice for the wife of a man in this situation. Is there anything your partners can do to maybe help you switch off after a stressful day?
