I (32F) have been seeing my BF (43M) since february. We are official and I have met his friends, son and parents. Yesterday when I was staying at his place while he was away at work, I went to take a piece of paper from a drawer and to my horror found two postcards from some other woman (these were from July). It only said “i miss you lots” and “kisses”.
When i confronted him he assured me it was a woman he saw shorty before he and I met. They live nearby and bumped into each other a couple of times and made small talk that she interpreted as flirting and then sent the cards. Also, their children are in kindergarten together which is why they sometimes bump into each other. He said it made him uncomfortable and he just shoved the cards in the drawer.
Should I believe him? Feeling sad and confused.

Unless he has given you other reasons to doubt him, believe him. If this woman was really important to him, he’d be in an official relationship with HER.
She’s probably his emergency option if the two of you don’t work out. Else, he would have showed those cards into a trash bin, not his drawer.
